Notes:
Caroline's family moved from Iowa to Almora, Minnesota in 1879. This
is where George and Caroline met and married. George went to Hope, North
Dakota in 1903 to work as a Thrasher leaving Caroline and the children in
Minnesota. She and the children joined him after the death of their
daughter, Lydia, in September of 1903. They settled first in Clifford,
North Dakota and then, in 1909, moved to Hope, North Dakota. The remained
there until George died in 1941. By that time, all the children, except
Clara, were married and she and Caroline moved to Hibbing, Minnesota where they
remained until their deaths, in 1955 and 1991 respectively.
After their deaths, George and Caroline were each returned to Wrightstown, Minnesota to be buried in Woodside Cemetery side-by-side and next to their daughter Lydia. Later, their daughter, Clara, was interred next to them.
At the time they moved to North Dakota, the spelling of the surname became Quenette. Some of the children used the original spelling and some adopted the new spelling. Because of the French background to the name, some people thought the 'e' needed to be appended for proper pronunciation. Caroline's surname was also routinely spelled Schultz instead of Shultz.
