Per the North Dakota Military Men, 1917-1918, Volume 3, William was 
inducted into the Army at Sherbrooke on August 28, 1918; sent to Camp Lewis, 
Washington; served in the 166th Depot Brigade until September 5, 1918; served 
with Company K, 75th Infantry until his discharge at Camp Lewis, Washington on 
February 6, 1919 as a Private 1st Class, which he attained on November 6, 1918.
