In 1955, Eugene was a federal prisoner.
From the Bismarck Tribune, Bismarck, North Dakota, April 18, 1955:
FARGOAN CHARGED FOR ESCAPE PLOT
Fargo (AP) – Arlo Kingsley, 20, Fargo, was charged by federal authorities Friday
with aiding an attempted jail break.
Kingsley was accused of providing two hack saw blades for Eugene Quenette, 31,
Hope, a federal prisoner in the Cass County jail.
Kingsley, recently released from jail under a suspended sentence on a traffic
charge, was arrested after jailers found the bars cut on Quenette’s cell
Wednesday night. He blades were in the cell.
Authorities said Quenette, who had access to a cellblock “bull pen” apparently
took off a window pane and hung a string out the window to the ground below,
where the blades were tied to the string.
Quenette, awaiting transportation to Wyoming on a firearms charge, has not been
charged in connection with the escape try.
Eugene is later listed as an inmate in
the Arizona State Penitentiary in 1968. He is listed in SSDI as Gene.

After Rolley's death, Etta married George Quenette, Rolley's brother. George's wife, Abigail, had passed away in 1968. This had to be a little confusing for Etta as George spelled his last name 'Quenette' and Rolley spelled it without the 'e'. Upon her death, though, she was buried with Rolley and George was buried with Abigail.
Etta's death registration reflects her spouse as George:
