Notes:
Charlie moved to Saskatchewan, Canada with his parents in 1912. Kate was
in Saskatchewan babysitting for a family. They met at a barn dance and
returned to Minnesota to get married. Following their marriage in 1916,
they lived in Penzance, Saskatchewan for a short period of time and then filed
for their own homestead in the Sweet Hills district, west of Simpson,
Saskatchewan
(Homestead description: Part SW, Section 23, Township 29,
Range 27, Meridian W2). Their first four children were
born there.

The family moved to Regina, Saskatchewan about 1920 where Charlie joined the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police for a short period of time. They then moved
to Gary, Indiana but Charlie wanted to return to Canada. After returning
to Saskatchewan, they settled in Penzance, where their last child was born.
Charlie worked as a mechanic with his father and brother in his father's garage
in Penzance.
In 1925, the family, again, moved back to Gary, Indiana where Charlie worked for Polk
Dairy for many years.

Because of leaving the United States and moving to Saskatchewan, they lost their U. S. citizenship and had to be re-naturalized after they returned. This is the reason for all of the official documents being dated in 1946 and being from Lake County, Indiana.
In 1960, Charlie and Kate bought a resort in Monticello, Indiana which had
six rental cottages. He became ill in 1964 and they had to sell the resort
and return to Gary where they lived until he died. Kate went back to
Monticello and stayed there until she was wiped out by a tornado in 1974.
After that, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana near her daughter, Nell, where
she stayed until she died.
