Jonathan was living with his brother, Squire, in 1860. Jane was previously married and brought a child into the marriage.

There used to be two stones at Jane's burial - one with the name Jane R and the notation "wife of John R"  and one with the name Anna F with no date - possibly a child.  After Jane died, Jonathan married Phebe Mulkin but he was again widowed by 1900.
