Henry spent one year at Dartmouth and then four years at Cornell where he graduated in 1916 with a Bachelor of Architects degree. He joined the American Field Service in WW I. When the United States entered the conflict, Henry returned to the front as a Capt. in the 12th Division, Field Artillery. He remained there from April of 1917 to February of 1919. In the early 1920s, he traveled extensively in Europe studying the architecture while painting lovely scenes along the way.  During his career, he designed many fine residences in the Detroit area as well as commercial structures.

Henry was on a hunting trip in North Carolina at Poplar Branch, when he suffered a stroke, December 5,1953 while hunting ducks in Currituck Sound.
