Richard R. Galutia, 77, of 86 Moore's Hill Road, Berwick, concluded his journey in this life late Friday evening, June 19, 2009, in Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Elmira, N.Y., March 3, 1932, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary Houser Galutia.  He started working as a composer with the former Berwick Enterprise, which merged with the Press Enterprise, where he continued working as a composer until retiring in 1995 after 371/2 years of employment.  After retirement, he did lawn care for Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.

A member of the Berwick Hospital Senior Circle, he had been a Boy Scout leader and a baseball and softball coach.  He was interested in Indian artifacts and Civil War movies.  He liked working in his yard, and going fishing and bowling.  A photographer, he had his own studio.

Richard will be remembered by his wife of 46 years, the former Josephine K. Weaver; eight children; Richard "Chip" Green and wife, Sarah; Sue Green; Ginny Kliever and husband Bradley; Scott Green and wife, Brenda, all of Oregon; Hondo Galutia and wife Jackie, of Berwick; Melissa Traver and husband, Jeff, Berwick; Matthew Galutia and wife Nicole, Nescopeck; Christine Manley and husband, Thomas III, of Berwick; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers; Dale Galutia and Lewis Edwards, both of Berwick; and his beloved dog Maya.

He is entrusted to the care of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael J. Scholtes, pastor of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nescopeck, presiding.  He will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street.  Calling hours are today 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10-11 a.m.
