Notes:
Madge was enrolled in the Dromara Elementary School on the 1st of
February, 1921. Records indicate she was 11 years old and had previously
attended the Roden Street School in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They also
state she was of the Presbyterian denomination and her father was a labourer.
She attended until Jun 30, 1926 when she transferred to De Bear Schools in
Belfast, Northern Ireland.
She immigrated to the United States with her mother and four of her brothers to settle in Gary, Indiana. Per the Passage Manifest and Passenger Records of the S.S. Cameronia, Ellis Island Foundation, New York, New York: Madge, along with her mother, Charlotte, and 4 brothers immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in May of 1927. They departed Londonderry, Northern Ireland on April 24, 1927 and arrived at Ellis Island on May 3, 1927.
Johnnie was actually born John Niestrom. His father died when he was an infant and his mother remarried Unknown Megquier who adopted Johnnie and, thus, the name change.
