Notes:
Jacob was elected Town Clerk of Shaftsbury, Vermont in 1784, and held the
office forty-one years. He was also Justice of the Peace for a long time
and representative of Shaftsbury for ten consecutive years, 1801-1811.
In the Revolutionary War, he was a Lieutenant in Capt. Lyon's Co. in March
and again in October 1780 to march on alarm. In December of 1781, he was
with Capt. Jacob Hines' Co. of Arlington, VT. He was a lieutenant on the list of
men of Arlington to assist the sheriff of Cumberland County in the execution of
his office in May and June of 1779.
