Eliza, James Jr. and Lucy died in a houseboat fire on Goguac Lake, outside of
Battle Creek. The children are buried together with their mother in one grave.
Zella was later adopted by John and Mary (Wolcott) Howard. Charles was adopted by George
and Hannah Manby but died young after getting kicked in the head by a horse.
