Samuel, Isabelle and the family removed to
Reno Co., Kansas where Samuel's brother Laban Whitefield Blodgett was living.
While there, Isabelle delivered Rachel and died from complications.
Probably feeling he couldn't raise the infant, Rachel was adopted by James and
Sarah (Goff) Fisher, a prominent attorney in the county. Samuel and the
other children later removed to Oklahoma.
