From the Tuscaloosa Newspaper, 1943:
             Legion of Merit Awarded Lt. Quinn
     Award of the Legion of Merit to lt. James H. Quinn, son of Mrs. O. J. Quinn of 420 Ninth St., and the late Mr. Quinn was announced today by the War Department and released through The Associated Press.
     The Tuscaloosa boy has been in the U.S. Army for more than two years and overseas with the Ordinance Department for about 21 months.
     Lt. Quinn (then technical sergeant) received the award for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as shop foreman of the tank shop at Tripoli.
     His citation said, "The rate of production of tanks maintained under his guidance, together with the high quality of repair work accomplished, contributed in a marked degree to the successful operation of the Libyan Service Command."
