Ernest R. Wrightman, 76, of North Vernon, died at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp & Rudical Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Wright officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery. Military graveside rites were conducted by a color guard from Fort Knox, Ky.
Mr. Wrightman was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retiring as a major. He graduated from Troy State University in Alabama with four degrees including an educational specialist degree. After retiring from the Army, he was a high school social studies teacher in Montgomery, Ala.
Born May 3, 1924, in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of Floyd and Anna Germaine Wrightman. He married Bonnie M. Peters Oct. 24 1975 in Columbus; she survives.
Also surviving are a son, The Rev. Paul Wrightman of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Linda Ayers of Montgomery, Ala., and Susan Rodgers of Garland, Texas; a step-son, George Vicars of Punta Gorda, Fla; a step-daughter, Linda Staley of Anderson; and three grandchildren, Heidi Wrightman of Garland, Texas, David Staley and Catherine Staley of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon, F. Wrightman.
