Bonnie M. Wrightman, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of North Vernon, died at 8:55 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Harbour Health Center in Port Charlotte.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Wright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wrightman was a former Civil Service employee, having worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security, and the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, where she was engaged in editing curriculum material. During her service with the Air Force, she received four outstanding performance awards. She was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Indianapolis. She was a 1944 graduate of Vernon High School and a 1979 graduate of Troy State University in Troy, Ala. She held a master beautician license and opened the first beauty salon in Vernon during the 1940s.

Born April 10, 1926, in Vernon, she was the daughter of Dr. Melvin E. and Jeannette Stewart Peters. She married Ernest R. Wrightman on Oct. 25, 1975, in Columbus. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2000.

She is survived by a son, George Vicars, Punta Gordo, Fla.; one daughter, Dr. Linda Staley, Anderson; and one granddaughter, Catherine Staley.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eleanor Skinner; a brother, Jack Peters, and one grandson, David Staley.
