OBITUARY
Name: Alfred Vernon Whitney

He was born September 19, 1882 in Greenwood, N.Y., the son of Charles and Josephine Dickinson Whitney, and was a retired farmer, having spent most of his life in this area.
Mr. Whitney was a member of the Methodist church and the Grange of Tioga.
Surviving are his widow, Ida Mattison Whitney; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Tomlinson and Miss Dorothy Whitney, both of Mansfield; Mrs. Louise Smith and Mrs. Ruth Smith, both of Horseheads, N.Y.; two sons, Norman of Tioga and Jack of Chemung, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Albert H. Schott, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
