HORNELL -- Vivian L. Whitman, 74, of 93 North Church St., died Monday evening (May 10, 1999) at St. James Mercy Hospital, following a long illness.

Born in Eldred, Pa., on Aug. 5, 1924, she resided in Hornell for her entire life.  Vivian was a graduate of Hornell High School.  She was employed by the former Corbin Wood Products Corp. for several years.

She was married to Merle "Bud" Travis, who died in 1967 and later was married to Jack Whitman, who died in 1990.  Vivian was also preceded in death by her son, Jan Travis who died in 1975.

Surviving are one niece, Andrea (Bill) Travis Flannery of Rotunda West, Fla.; one nephew, Gary Travis of Sumner, WA; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Treahy, with whom she resided; one brother-in-law, Toddy (Anne) Whitman of Arkport; three step-daughters.

The family of Vivian L. Whitman will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. only at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where funeral and committal services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating.  Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
