Death Of Missing Flyer
Confirmed
Lt.
James W. Wheeler, 21, of Dunkirk, N.Y., who was reported missing
in action over Germany last summer, is reported as killed in a
bombing mission over Germany, due to a collision of planes on
July 21, in a message to relatives this week and confirmed by
General Arnold.
The young flyer had
made thirteen bombing flights between July 3 and July 21. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Wheeler of Dunkirk and Albany.
Mr. Wheeler was formerly from Wellsboro.
Besides his parents
he is survived by an older brother, Jerome, Jr., of Virginia.
Harold Wheeler, is an uncle and Miss Florence Wheeler, of
Wellsboro is an aunt of Lt. Wheeler.
