HORNELL -- John Wesley, 97, of 41 East Main St., died early today (July 17, 1980) in St. James Mercy Hospital where he was admitted Wednesday.

A native of Austria, he had resided in the Hornell area for most of his life.  He was a machinist in the former Erie Railroad shops and retired in June 1952.

Mr. Wesley was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and was a life member of Olean Lodge; Loyal Order of Moose; International Order of Odd Fellows and Hornell Lodge of Machinists.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Irene Hurlbut of Arkport, Mrs. Geraldine Oxx of Hornell, Mrs. Vivian Mosher at home; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Janet Wesley of Hornell, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the family home, 41 East Main St., where prayer service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Church.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.
