HORNELL -- Gordon F. Wesley, 70, of 16 Pleasant St., died this morning (Jan. 22, 1980) in St. James Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Austin, Pa., and a former resident of Olean and Dansville, he had lived in Hornell since 1943.  He had owned and operated with his wife the Wesley Grocery store on Pleasant Street for the past 37 years.

Mr. Wesley was formerly employed at Erie-Lackawanna Railway Co., Foster Wheeler Corp. and Merrill Hosiery Co.  He was a member of the Hornell Lodge No. 210, Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Janet May Wesley; a son, Dean G. Wesley of Hornell; his father, John Wesley of Hornell; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Hurlbut of Arkport, Mrs. Vivian Mosher and Mrs. Geraldine Oxx of Hornell; and two grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Dagon Funeral Home.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
