OBITUARY
Name: Vernon Epps Welker
From: Daily Statesman, Dexter, Missouri

Mr. Welker, formerly of Dexter, was a retired postal carrier. He served
in the Army in W.W. II and the Korean War, and was a life member of the Disabled
American Veterans - Chapter Prairie State No. 14.
Surviving are his wife Irene McRoy Welker; two step-daughters, Janet
McGuire of Fairview Heights, and Joan Greenwood of Anchorage, Alaska; one
step-son, Gene Glenn of Temple, TX; four sisters, Fern Conley of Salem, Dorothy
Hite of St. Louis, Mo., Kathryn Mosier of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lottie Joseph of
Dexter; six step-grandchildren; also other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by one step-grandson, Eddie Starkey.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 28 at 10 a.m. a the Schildknecht Funeral Home in Fairview Heights with Rev. Bill Fox officiating.
Burial was in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks.
