Thomas Marion Welker, a resident of Stoddard County practically all his life, died June 8 at Doctor's Hospital in Poplar Bluff at the age of 66 years, 9 months, and 16 days.  The son of the late James and Kathryn Welker, he was born Aug 22, 1892 at Fredericktown.  Coming to the county when a small child, Mr. Welker lived here for several years before moving to Dexter in 1946.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Welker of Dexter; five children by a former marriage, Mrs. Fern Conley of Bunker, Mo., Sgt. 1-C Vern Welker stationed in California, Mrs. Dorothy Hite of St. Louis, Mrs. Kathryn Asmus of Jackson, Wisc., and Mrs. Lottie Joseph of Dexter; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Virginia Poe of Owensboro, Ky. and Mrs. Elizabeth McFall of Bowling Green, Ky.  Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, one brother, Dolph Welker of Jefferson City; two sisters, Mrs. Minty Harris of Bloomfield and Mrs. Coatney Willis of Dexter; one half-brother, Poley Welker of Patton, Mo.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Dexter where he was a member, with Rev. L. W. Patterson of Dexter officiating, assisted by Rev. Orville Myers of Poplar Bluff.  Interment was in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins and Sons service.
