Faye Ward, 77, of Paris died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Paris Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services are set for 4 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home with Judge Bob Burns officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date under the direction of Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home.

Following the services, her family will receive friends in her favorite garden, at the home of Job L. "Nick" Hammond, in a commemoration of her life.

She was born Evelyn Faye Neal on Aug. 25, 1926, in Ada, Okla., the daughter of Charles Henry "Mac" and Evalena Jennings Neal. She married Charles Lee Ward on Sept. 12, 1946. She began her antique business almost 50 years ago. She was also a former owner of Spangler's on the Plaza.

She will be remembered for her charm, generosity and love of life, as well as her determination, independence and hard work. She was a woman ahead of her time.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Major Charles Lee Ward, U.S. Air Force, retired; two sons, James Michael Ward and John Craig Ward; her parents; her sisters, Mary Lou and Wilma; and her brothers, Charles and John Craig Neal.

Survivors include her daughter, Hedy Nash of Paris; granddaughter, Jo Lee Anderson of Blossom; brothers, Kenneth and Robert of Ada, Okla., and Don of Amarillo; her sister, Barbara Marr of Sherman; a wealth of wonderful nieces and nephews; her constant companion, her beloved dog, Puggledy; and her much loved cats.

If desired, the family suggests memorials to the Lamar County Humane Society, Paris Public Library or to a charitable organization of choice.
