OBITUARY

CLINTON -- Leon J. VanDeusen, 75, of 628 Jackson Street, Clinton, died Monday
at 9:45 a.m. at Herrick Hospital. He had been in failing health the past two
years. He was born May 29, 1894 in Adrian Township. On June 1, 1917, he married
Mabel Schrader, who survives.
Mr. VanDeusen was a farmer and a Justice of the Peace in Clinton for 37 years.
He was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Tipton and Adrian schools.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Clinton and a member of the
Clinton Masonic Lodge 175. He had been a member of the Rotary Club for many
years and was the secretary and treasurer of the organization for several years.
Mr. VanDeusen was active in many community affairs.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Eleanor) Miller
of Denver, Colo.; two sons, Larry, at home and Stanley of Ontario, Calif.; seven
grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Geiger of Clinton. He was preceded in
death by one son and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Proctor Funeral Home
in Clinton. The Rev. Earl Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Clinton. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home.
