OBITUARY

Name:   Loraine O. (Carpenter) Van Gorder

Mrs. Loraine Van Gorder died at her home in Galeton February 12, after a long illness. Loraine Carpenter was born in Middlebury, PA, November 8, 1858 and died February 12, 1921 aged 62 years, 3 months and four days.

On March 12, 1881, she was married to Alvoid Van Gorder, and to them were born five children; Harry C. died at the age of twelve, and those who survive her are a step-daughter, Mrs. Nellie Sawyer of Ellenville, NY; Mrs. Gertrude Shine and Mrs. Estella Carr of Galeton, Pa.; Mrs. Ethel Lebo of Philadelphia, Pa. and Alvoid Van Gorder of Galeton, Pa. besides five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Gee of Tioga, Pa.; Mrs. Allison Everett of Williamsport, Pa. and two brothers M. W. and C. E. Carpenter of Middlebury.

The funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14, Rev. Dr. A. D. Stevens, pastor of the M. E. Church of which the deceased was a member, officiating. The Eastern Star conducted the closing service. Many and beautiful were the floral tributes. At 7:30 a.m. Feb 15, the friends left for Middlebury where another service was conducted by Dr. A. D. Stevens at the residence of her brother C. E. Carpenter; interment in the Middlebury cemetery.
