Inez Swafford Turner, 92, of McLeansboro died 2:25 a.m. July 25, 2006, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

She worked as a cook at the former Beaver Creek Grade School near McLeansboro for 14 years.

Mrs. Turner was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Hamilton County to Emery J. and Pearl M. (Griffith) Prince. She first married Euel Swafford; he preceded her in death. She later married Irving Turner; he also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. John Reed will officiate and the Rev. Robert Sefried will assist in the service. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery near McLeansboro.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Mrs. Turner is survived by a son, Marvin Swafford and wife Genevieve of McLeansboro; a daughter, Marlene Elliott and husband Frank of Dahlgren; five grandchildren, Cathy McCormick and husband Fred of Greenville, Ind., Tony Swafford and wife Cheryl of Danville, Gena VanAbbema and husband Dan of McLeansboro, Frank E. Elliott and wife Claudia of Belle Rive and Lisa Ellis and husband Monty of Mt. Vernon; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers Wilburn Prince of McLeansboro and R. L. “Doc” Prince of Salem.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; two brothers, Roy and Floyd Prince; and a sister, Thelma Pulliam.

Mrs. Turner was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Mill Shoals.

Memorials may be made to Hamilton Memorial Hospital and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
