OBITUARY

Name:    Hettie Ellen (Herber) Thresher

Mrs. Hettie Ellen Thresher, 86, died Saturday night, January 31, at the Samaritan Rest Home at Topeka, Kansas.

She was born April 18, 1873 at Springfield, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Silas Herber.  The family homesteaded in southeast Hodgeman County when she was very young.

January 29, 1890, she was married to John Thresher and they established their home on homestead south of Jetmore where they lived until 1923 when they moved into Jetmore.  Mr. Thresher passed away December 20, 1927 and she continued to live at home in Jetmore until her health failed at which time she became a patient in the Good Samaritan Rest home until October when she went to a rest home in Topeka, near her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Mac Nair.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Charlie, Eldorado Springs, Missouri; four daughters, Mrs. John Mac Nair (Mabel), Topeka; Mrs. Clayton Roger (Etta), Jetmore; Mrs. Ralph Mix (Ina), Springdale, Connecticut; and Mrs. James Mooney (Arlie), Hanston; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Methodist Church with Rev. Cecil Zeigler, officiating.  Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.  The Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
