George S. Teale, 71, of 4259 Betty Lee Blvd., Gladwin, died Monday, Dec. 22, in
the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Sheridan Township, Clare County, on June
30, 1909, he came to Gladwin County 12 years ago when he retired as
owner-operator of Teale's Restaurant in Marlette.
Mr. Teale was a member of the Marlette Masonic Lodge 343, Bay City Scottish
Rite, Elf Khurafeh in Saginaw and the Frontier Shrine Club of Gladwin. He was
former mayor of Marlette and Justice of the Peace, past president of the
Marlette School Board, past treasurer of the Marlette Presbyterian Church, past
chairman of the Young Republicans of Sanilac County and a member of the Sanilac
County Republican Committee.
He and the former Edith Laube were married November 14, 1939, in Caro. Besides
his wife, he is survived by one son, Douglas of Marlette; one daughter, Mrs.
(Elaine) Reil of Flint; 4 sisters, Mrs. Olive Allen of Coleman, Mrs. Lelah
Allen, Mrs. Beulah Armentrout and Dorothy Teale of Clare; and 4 grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin
Chapel. The Rev. Donald Bates officiated and burial was in the Highland
Cemetery.
