McLEANSBORO — Etta (Cross) Stubblefield, 66, of
McLeansboro, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Stubblefield was retired from McLeansboro Rehabilitation & Healthcare
Center, where she worked in the housekeeping department.
She was born July 25, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of Fenton and
Mary (Dennis) Cross.
Etta first married Junior Griffith, who preceded her in death. She later married
Thomas Stubblefield, who also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the
Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Stubblefield is survived by two sons, Kent Griffith and wife Crystal of Mt.
Vernon and Jeff Griffith of Flora; two stepsons, Boyd Stubblefield and wife
Karen of McLeansboro and Brett Stubblefield of McLeansboro; a daughter, Gladys
(Griffith) Hungate and husband Paul of McLeansboro; four grandchildren, Cole
Griffith, C. J. Griffith, Heather Griffith White and Ryan Griffith; two
step-grandchildren, Jana Thompson and Sarah Stubblefield; one great-grandchild,
Clayton Griffith; and her brothers and sister, Fenton Cross of Dahlgren, Elma
Lenard of Akin and Barbara Owens of Centralia.
Mrs. Stubblefield was a member of the McLeansboro American Legion Auxiliary and
Hopewell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents and an infant brother, Labon
Cross.
