SARASOTA, Fla. — George R. Stives died Friday following a short
illness. He was 86.
Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong area resident except for four years of
Army service at West Point, N.Y. He and his wife moved to Sarasota in March.
Mr. Stives was retired from General Electric Co., where he worked for over 20
years as a technician in the air and space division in Philadelphia and Valley
Forge, Pa.
Son of the late Henry R. and Mary Patterson Stives, brother of the late
Albert "Albie" and Edward Stives, he is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Stamm
Stives; sons and daughters-in-law John R. and Beth Stives of Willow Grove, Pa.,
and Timothy R. and Christine Stives of Tampa, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law
Mary Louise and Gerald Conti of Sarasota, Fla., and Bonnie and Larry Parker of
Lithia, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law John H. and Louise Stives of Lakewood;
and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40
Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the nonprofit
organization of the donor's choice.
