Name:    Viola Lorene (Rainwater) Malloy Stevens

Viola Lorene Stevens, 89, died Aug. 4, 2004, in Bridgeton, Mo., from complications following surgery.

She was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of the late Jefferson Davis and Hattie (Stokely) Rainwater, third of eight children.

She was united in marriage to George W. Malloy, and from their union four children were born. After his death, she married Rubin D. Stevens and had one son.

Viola moved from Missouri to Layton, Utah, in the late 1960s, where she operated an alteration business from her home for many years before moving back to Piedmont in the late 1970s. She was a professional seamstress and sewed for many clothing stores, as well as uniforms for police departments and military servicemen. She loved making quilts and other items and blessing others with them. We will dearly miss her.

Surviving are four children, LoRene Cahoon, Layton, Utah, Sallye (Ned) Clark, Layton, Utah, Cari (Alan) Conner, Piedmont, Mike (Nancy) Stevens, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; four siblings, Hattie Mae Safferstone,, Helen Selvidge, Lucille Tedescucci, Ellen McMillian; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, siblings, Dorothy Bosze, Wagner Rainwater, Harold Rainwater, son, George W. "Bud" Malloy, grandchildren, Cari Jean Malloy and Amber Dawn Conner, and one great-granddaughter, Brittany Clark.

The funeral was held Aug. 7 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery.
