Portville, Aug 31 -- Word has been received in Portville of the death of Mrs. Alice B. Stebbins, a former resident, who died Monday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Scott at Wellsville.
Mrs. Stebbins was born in Nile on April 2, 1859, the daughter of David C. Mapes and Frances Buchanan. She was twice married, on August 2, 1878 to Frank Galutia who died on December 26, 1881 and to William M. Stebbins on June 2, 1883. Mr. Stebbins died on December 6, 1921.
She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. William Harder, Alma, Mrs. L. H. Richards, Petrolia, Samuel C. Stebbins, William H. Stebbins and Leon E. Stebbins and Mrs. O. H. Scott, Wellsville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held this afternoon at two o'clock at the home, with the Rev. Richard Lentz officiating. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Mrs. Ernest Ten Eyck, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Sikes and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elliott of Portville attended the funeral.
