Elmer E. Stanton of Hornby attempted to commit suicide at his home in that place on Monday morning.  Stanton attempted to sever with a jackknife the jugular vein and the large veins in his wrists.  He succeeded in inflicting some severe wounds from the effects of which he died yesterday afternoon.  He had been a victim of the grip for some time past and it is thought the disease had unbalanced his mind.  Deceased was 28 years of age and a widower in comfortable circumstances.
