OBITUARY

Samuel C. Spurgeon, of Mansfield, died March 6, at the Blossburg hospital.  He was born June 23 1885 at South Boston, Ind.  On November 26, 1914, he married Emma E. Carpenter of Marshcreek.  They resided in Elmira until 1921 when they removed to Mansfield to reside.

Mr. Spurgeon had been active in the work of the Boy Scouts for the past 15 years.  At the time of his death he served as District Commander of General Sullivan's Council of Boy Scouts.  He was a member of the Methodist church, a member of the Ambulance Batallion Headquarters of Mansfield, the Mansfield Businessmen's Association and the Risingville, N.Y. Masonic Lodge.

Besides his widow, he leaves two brothers; Charles of Bloomington, Ind., and Fred of Englewood, Calif. and one sister, Mrs. Cora Green of Oklahoma.
