OBITUARY

Knoxville, Dec. 13 – Ashley Spencer, aged 25 years, was fatally injured at
his home Friday afternoon and died Saturday morning about 4:30 o’clock. He was
cutting a tree when the horses became frightened and started to run. Mr.
Spencer tried to stop them when they collided with the tree, which fell hitting
him. He was removed to the house unconscious. Dr Clark was immediately
summoned and found one shoulder and collar bone broken and internal injuries.
The funeral will be held from the home of his uncle, Claude Spencer, where his
mother and he resided, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. Klotzback, of
Little Marsh, will officiate. The funeral will be conducted by the I.O.O.F. and
the P.O.S. of A. and Excelsior Grange of which Mr. Spencer was a member. Burial
in the Beech [sic] Cemetery near Keeneyville.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Spencer, his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Wass, his uncle, Claude Spencer and many other relatives. Mr. Spencer was a young man and well liked by his many associates.
