Cowanesque, April 10--Lorenzo Dow Southworth, 81, prominent citizen of Cowanesque was found dead in bed Friday by his son, Squire Southworth early Saturday morning. He had been in his usual health and had been up and doing some work the previous day, retiring Friday evening as usual without apparent indisposition other than a slight cold.

He was the son of Squire and Thankful (King) Southworth and was born November 2, 1853 in Chatham Township, where he spent the greater part of his life at farming. He was twice married and had one daughter, Mrs. Wayland Leach of Westfield, by his first marriage. About 35 years ago he married Mrs. Lena Carpenter of Little Marsh. Two children of this marriage, Mrs. Cecil Griffin of Westfield and Squire Southworth of Cowanesque, together with his wife survive, with one sister, Mrs. Mary Cummings of Westfield.

In the passing of Mr. Southworth, one of the oldest and most respected residents has gone. He had endeared himself to his neighbors since coming to Cowanesque to reside 15 years ago, and will be missed by a host of friends and relatives.

The funeral was held Monday; burial in the Hillside Cemetery.
