Orville James Shepley, 86, died the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994, in
Colfax of cancer. The son of John D. Shepley and Laura M. Hoy, he was born
Jan. 16, 1907 in Nevada, Mo. He was married to Hazel Smith in 1932.
Mr. Shepley was employed by the Automatic Washer Co. in Newton, by the City of Colfax and also worked as a farmer. He was also a member of the Baptist Church in Colfax and has been a resident of Colfax since 1953.
Survivors are his children: Sally Shepley of Colfax; Don of Colfax; Kenny of Runnells; Carl of South Bend, Ind.; and Judie (Mrs. Larry) Lafferty of Colfax. Also, 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shepley was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hazel, in 1950 and 12 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Harris will conduct the service. Visitation with the family will be held from six to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in at the Colfax Cemetery.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa will be accepted.
