WEAVERVILLE - Pansy Lee Maney Shepherd, 100, formerly of 280 Stockton Road, died Saturday, May 13, 2006.

Mrs. Shepherd was born July 11, 1905, in Buncombe County where she had lived for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Lucious and Margaret Bradley Maney and the wife of the late Floyd Shepherd, who died in 1965. Also preceding her in death are her sons, James, Kenneth, Blackwell and Mitchell Shepherd and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her daughters, Phena Howie of Thompson, Ga., and Matilda Mae Mundy and husband, John Willard Mundy, of Hendersonville; sons, Taylor Shepherd and wife, Mary Ann, of Aurora, Ill., Roy Shepherd and wife, Ruby and Jack Shepherd and wife, Kaye, all of Weaverville, and Walter Shepherd and wife, Retha, of Warren, Mich.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Piney Mountain Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Revs. Billy Murray, Charles Phillips and Larry Coates officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to contribute to a charity of your choice.
