Robert H Seavey -- Volunteer member of Milford Fire Department

Robert H. Seavey, 87, of Beech St., Milford, died May 9, 2003, at the Harborside Healthcare Center in Milford.

Mr. Seavey was born May 9, 1916, in Milford, son of the late Clarence W. and Bernice (Barker) Seavey. He was a lifelong resident of Milford. He was the husband of Lura (Holt) Keddy Seavey of Milford.

Mr. Seavey was employed as a warehouse manager by the former Sprague & Carleton Furniture Co. for many years before retiring in 1981.

He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harley Sanford Post 4368, Milford, and an honorary member of the Milford Historical Society.

Mr. Seavey was a member of the First Congregational Church of Milford for more than 65 years and served on several boards. In addition, Mr. Seavey had served on various Milford town committees, including the planning board. An important part of his volunteering was serving as a member of the Milford Fire Department and the Milford Fireman’s Relief Association.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Infantry and Air Corps during World War II.

Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Virginia Rood of Milford; a stepson, Richard Keddy of Georgia; a brother, Kenneth Seavey of Alton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m., in the First Congregational Church of Milford, Union Street, Milford. Burial will be in the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the National MPS Society, Inc., 45 Packard Drive, Bangor, ME 04401, in honor of Ashton Keddy.
