Chester L. Scranton, aged 70 years, a resident of Marsh Creek, died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 16, after only a few days illness. He was born at Stony Fork, Jan. 4, 1854, the son of Samuel and Elmira Scranton. When about 10 years of age, he left there to remove to Marsh Creek, where the remainder of his life was spent. He was a kindly, gentle man and a true lover of all natural beauty.
He was married to Miss Luella Holiday, from which union were born two sons, Homer, deceased and Manary [sic] of Endicott, who, with Mrs. Scranton survives him. Five grandchildren are also left to mourn his death, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Baker of Marsh Creek.
Funeral services were held from the Ansonia church, Rev. Mr. Stoddard, officiating; interment in the Ansonia cemetery.
