James Bernard Schmeiser, 73, of Crossville, formerly of Holland, OH, passed away
Aug. 1, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 3 from the chapel of Hood
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ann Markle officiating. Burial was in Highland
Memorial Garden in Waterville, OH.
Mr. Schmeiser was born March 9, 1931 in Tiffin, OH, the son of George Bernard
Schmeiser and Chrissire Lucile Daughenbaugh.
He was retired from Ford Motor Co. and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic
Church. He was an Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was a lifetime member
of Holland American Legion, Lucas County Commander, First District Commander and
Department of Ohio sergeant-at-arms. He was also a member of AmVets, Elks,
Eagles and Knights of Columbus. He worked as a security guard at Lake Tansi and
loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife, Aggie Schmeiser of Crossville, daughters and
sons-in-law, Regina and Scoop Williams of Crossville, Tina and Mike Watson of
Holland, OH and Janice Palm of Holland, OH; stepchildren, Roger and Dorene
Rockafellow of Alma, MI, Rodney and Yvonne Rockafellow of Carson, MI, Rick and
Darlene Rockafellow of Six Lakes, MI, Scot and Tammy Rockafellow of Gillette,
WY, Mark and Candi Rockafellow of St. Louis, MO, Mike and Stephanie Rockafellow
of Six Lakes, MI, Kevin and Cindy Rockafellow of Marco Island, FL, Kimberly
Rockafellow of Rock Hill, SC, Kurt and Shelly Rockafellow of Hillsdale, MI and
Matt and Karen Rockafellow of Crossville; brother, Tom Schmeiser of Toledo, OH;
and sisters, Janet Bassenger of Temperose, MI and Carol Butler of Syvania, OH;
18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou
Schmeiser.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC was in charge of the arrangements.
