OBITUARY

Name:    Lawrence Wheeler Roundtree

Funeral services for L. W. Roundtree were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Y. W. Goff Chapel with the Rev. C. M. Simmons and the Rev. Hollis Preas officiating.  Burial was in Rosemound Cemetery.

The 72 year old carpenter died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in his home at 1902 Sycamore St., following a brief illness.  He was born June 5, 1896 at Fairlie but lived the major part of his life in Commerce.  On April 7, 1917, he married the former Clysta Alexander at England Grove.  His parents were David and Margaret Adams Roundtree.

Roundtree was a member of the Masonic lodge and was a member of the Baptist Church since childhood.

He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Anson Lowrie of Commerce; five sons, Louie Roundtree of Cumby, Roy Roundtree of Pittsburg, Billie Roundtree of McAllen, Paul Roundtree of Wolfe City and William Roundtree of Tampa, Fla.  Other survivors include Mrs. Merlin Sparks of Commerce, Mrs. W. L. Hamm of San Antonio, Mrs. J. O. Saul of Houston; two brothers Carl Roundtree of Greenville and Doyle Roundtree of Tampa.  Seventeen grandchildren also survive.

Members of the Masonic Lodge served as Pallbearers.
