WELLSVILLE -- Ethel Richardson, 87, of Riverside Drive died Friday (April 2, 1999) in Jones Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She was born April 30, 1911 in Allentown, N.Y., the daughter of John P and Tirzah Smith Sloan.  On Nov. 10, 1928, in Allentown, she was married to John M. Richardson, who died April 26, 1968.  She was a lifelong resident of the Wellsville area and was a graduate of Wellsville High School.

She was involved most of her life in the oil producing business.  She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ebenezer Oil Company from 1968 until 1984.  She also had done bookkeeping for numerous oil businesses throughout her adult life.

She was a former member of the Christian Temple Church of Wellsville.

She is survived by four grandsons, John M. (Denise) Richardson of Wellsville, Mark E. (Elainey) Richardson of Kendallville, Ind., James S. (Debora) Richardson of Wellsville, and Daniel G (Deborah) Richardson of Victor, N.Y.; seven great-grandchildren; Daughter-in-law, Marcella M. Richardson of Wellsville; a brother, John (Geraldine) Sloan of Allentown; a sister, Mary Alice Fuller of Scio; and several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, John M. Richardson; a son, Francis E. Richardson on July 22, 1982; and a half-brother, Leonard Runyan, in 1972.

Friends called at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home on Monday (April 5, 1999) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services were held on Tuesday (April 6, 1999) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Eastlack officiating.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.
