Name:   Lloyd Atwood Quenett

Lloyd A. Quenett, age 82, of Griffith, In, formerly of Gary, IN, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2003 at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillville, IN.  He was born in Simpson, Saskatchewan on September 4, 1920 to the late Charles and Catherine Quenett.  He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School. 

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as a torpedoman's mate second class on the USS Milwaukee.  He enlisted on 12/17/41 and was honorably discharged on 10/20/45.  While in the Navy, he met and married Florene Lyons Preston whom also served in the Navy.  When they retired from the service, they moved back to Gary, IN where he worked for many years as a meat cutter for Ruge Meats and Platak Meats.  He also was a member of the American Legion Merrillville Post #430.  He also was a member of the American Legion, Merrillville Post #430.

His wife, Florene, sister, Nell, and brothers, Harvey and Jerry, preceded Lloyd in death.

He is survived by his sister, Lucy (Mark) Bahun; 6 children: Sheila Sax, Sandra Quenett, Sister Jean Marie, Lloyd Quenett, Cynthia (Bill) Poncek, and Ruby (Tim) Leonhardt, twelve grandchildren: William, Jennifer, Erik, Carla, Scott, Jason, Dustin, Joey, Kristin, Kara, Chilton and Nathan.  Lloyd was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, Pastor Richard Brown officiating.  Interment Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.  Friends may call on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with an American Legion Post 430 services Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
