Announcement was made here last night of the death of David Frederick Pride on Thursday at his home in San Diego, Calif., at the age of 72.

He founded the hotel magazine, The Steward, in 1908 and edited and published it until 1918 when he formed the Hotel Realty Company.  On account of a serious asthmatic condition he retired in 1930 and moved to California.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Pride spent his early life there.  For a time he was managing editor of The American Field.  Later he covered the principal trap-shooting events for The Sportsmanís Review, and then joined the staff of Field and Fancy, another sporting publication.
