SCHUYLERVILLE — Leo Richard “Dick” Pechette, 91,
a lifelong Schuylerville resident, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Wesley Health
Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
Born Jan. 5, 1919, in Schuylerville, he was the son of the late Gilbert and
Maude Legacy Pechette.
Mr. Pechette was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, during which he served in
the South Pacific area.
He owned and operated Dick’s Lawnmower and Bicycle Shop on Broad Street in
Schuylerville for many years.
He was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at Notre Dame-Visitation Church
and was a member of Old Saratoga Post No. 278 American Legion and the Old
Saratoga Seniors in Schuylerville. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Beatrice Wilson Pechette of
Schuylerville; one son, Dr. Douglas Pechette and daughter-in-law, Jane Pechette,
of Evergreen, Colo.; two special nieces who were like daughters, Debbie Puckett
and her son, Brian Puckett, who was like a grandson, and Darlene Bolduc; his
sister-in-law, Marjorie Pechette; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Notre
Dame-Visitation Church, with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga
National Cemetery.
