Mrs. Vileta H. Parker, 71, died at her home, 759 Roe avenue in Elmira on Thursday, July 5, 1956.  A native of Italy township, she was the daughter of Freeman and Samantha Wheaton Horton.

She came to Penn Yan as a child and lived here until 20 years ago when she moved to Elmira.  Mrs. Parker was a member of the Penn Yan Bap[tist church.

She is survived by her husband Stewart Parker; three sons, Rudolph of Elmira, Gerald of Tucson, Ariz., and Lewis of Elmira; two daughters, Mrs. Wilber Kenney of Horseheads and Mrs. William Mahler of Appalachin; a sister, Mrs. W. E. DeMelt of Penn Yan; and a brother, Lewis Horton of Dundee; and several grandchildren.

Friends called at the Thayer Funeral chapel where services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Alvin Roland, pastor of the Second Milo Baptist church officiating.  Burial was in Lake View.
