BOLIVAR -- Mrs. Betty D. Nicholson, 78, of 103 Olean St., died today (Monday, Sept. 18, 1989) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, after a lengthy illness.

Born March 13, 1911, in Troupsburg, she was a daughter of Orin and Nellie Makeley Galusha.  On Sept. 19, 1928, in Almond, she married Robert Nicholson, who died in 1968.

In 1936, Mrs. Nicholson and her husband founded the Nicholson Flower Shop in Bolivar, which she owned and operated for 37 years until her retirement in 1973.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Donald (Anne) Saunders of Lake Placid, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Thomas of Bolivar; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rex Galusha and Richard Galusha both of Aspers, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (Sept. 20, 1989) at 1 p.m.  Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
