Davey Lee Newcomer, son of the late James Louis Newcomer and Carrie Bond Newcomer, was born in East Prairie on Feb. 25, 1935, and died at the Beverly Healthcare in Bloomfield on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the age of 71.

Mr. Newcomer had lived most of his life in Chaffee but the last two years in Bloomfield. He was a member of the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia. He had served in the National Guard from 1951-1959.

In 1952, he was married to Wanda Mae White. She preceded him in death in 1991. On Oct. 2, 1999, he was married to Novella Linville in Dexter.

Surviving are his wife, Novella Newcomer of Bloomfield; one son, Randy Newcomer of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one daughter, Robyn Hindman of Chaffee; two step-sons, James Ervin Razer of Bloomfield and Leland Leslie Razer of Risco; one step-daughter, Diana Hanner of Valier, Ill.; two brothers, Eugene "Butch" Newcomer of Jackson and Darroyl Newcomer of Hudson, Wis.; one sister, Melba Linville of Wood River, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; and one brother, James “Bud” Newcomer.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Dan Sitze of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
