Ralph R. Neill, Sr., 90, of Maple St., Hawthorn, died Friday, April 29, 1977, in
his house following a heart attack.
He was a retired coal miner. His death occurred 5 days after the death of his
son Preston R. Neill.
Born Feb. 11, 1887, in Beaver Township, Jefferson County, PA, son of Robert and
Elizabeth (Martz) Neill. Married to former Esther M. McAninch who survives.
Member of Hawthorn United Methodist Church and United Mineworkers of America.
Surviving (in addition to wife): Everett W. Neill, California; Paul C. Neill,
Sigel, PA; Ralph R. Neill, Jr., Strattanville RD1; Mrs. Myron (Ethel) Troup and
Mrs. Samuel (Ruby) Copenhaver of Mayport RD1; Mrs. Harold (Helena) Crissman,
Clarion RD1; Mrs. Darl (Irene)[sic - D.B.] Bish, Hawthorn; 37 grandchildren; 4
step-grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; also 3
sisters: Mrs. Inez McAninch, Clarion; Mrs. Harry (Mamie) Songer, Smethport; Mrs.
Lottie Ferringer, New Bethlehem RD3; brother Archie Neill, Hawthorn.
Preceded in death by: son Preston, 2 daughters Jessie and Verna, 2 brothers
David and George, 4 sisters Daisy, Maggie, Ollie, and Lillie.
Buried in Langville Cemetery, Jefferson County, PA.
