Mr. Joseph F. Motta, 86, of Michigan City, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at The Arbors of Michigan City.

He was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Chicago to Drazio and Mary (Maggio) Motta.

Mr. Motta retired as a spray painter from Josam Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a long-time usher at the church. He was a former member of the Eagles Aerie. He was a very devoted husband and uncle and was an avid Cubs fan.

In Michigan City, he married Nellie Biggerstaff, who preceded him in death.

Two sisters, Angeline Easter and Caroline Motta, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Michigan City, with Rev. James McGrogan officiating. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service. Entombment will be in Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Root Funeral Home, Michigan City, is in charge of arrangements.
